How do you use 出?

Grammar patterns

  1. 1

    出 + 来 / 去

出来 marks motion out toward the speaker ("come out"); 出去 marks motion out away from the speaker ("go out").

  2. 2

    Verb + 出来 / 出去

Attach 出来 or 出去 after another verb as a direction complement to show the action moves outward toward or away from the speaker.

Use 出 alone for going out or for something occurring; pair it with 来 or 去 when you need to show whether the motion is toward or away from the speaker.
